On April 6th, 2019 I had the honor to present the keynote speech for Dana Farber’s Young Adult Conference. This was the third time I attended this conference. First, as a shy 24 year-old recently diagnosed with a brain tumor recurrence, and now, as the conference presenter undergoing another recurrence.
This conference is one of my favorite days of the year because I get to be surrounded and connect with so many other young adults and caregivers who understand the day-to-day experience of having cancer. This year was even more special because I had a lot of family and my partner by my side as I told my story about how I cope with the uncertainties throughout my journey.
I hope you take something worthwhile from what I say. The first video is a closer up version while the second video was Dana Farber’s Live Stream that includes my “Toolbox” slide.
Having people come up for a hug when I was done, knowing that people resonated with my message, made the entire experience worthwhile.
Thank you to Dana Farber’s Young Adult Program for giving me this opportunity.
Fantastic! I follow a few people on Instagram who travel to all sorts of conferences, etc. I am so jealous – in a good way – of others doing these amazing things!
